This guide, published on March 19, reminds us that while parcel delivery is still allowed, it requires companies to strictly comply with general measures to prevent the spread of the virus and provide maximum protection for people handling these parcels. This includes, in particular, the implementation of contactless delivery.
Thus, at home, contactless delivery takes place under the following conditions:
- Deliveries will be made prioritarily in the standardized mailboxes of the recipient. Senders are encouraged to optimize the size of their parcels to facilitate this type of delivery as much as possible.
- If deliveries do not fit into a standardized mailbox, the delivery person will notify the client or designated person of their arrival (by knocking or ringing).
- The delivery person will leave the package on the doorstep and immediately move a minimum distance of 1 meter away from the door before the client opens it.
- They may leave the package on the doorstep or ensure from a distance that the package has been properly received by the client. They do not collect a handwritten signature from the client.
- The goal is to not be in close contact and, in particular, to not hand off the package from one hand to the other.
These rules complement the barrier gestures and work distancing rules disseminated by the Government earlier in the week. They are particularly essential in jobs that are not eligible for remote work, as they ensure maximum protection for people handling these packages (both couriers and consumers) and the smooth running of deliveries.
