During these special days, the fate of our elders 'cut off from the world' in nursing homes or retirement homes is particularly moving. Human and family relationships, of undeniable importance in their daily lives, have become almost non-existent due to the lockdown.
A photo album is above all a story. The story of life that continues despite everything. We are convinced that this story can help our elders feel a bit less distant from their loved ones, perhaps even bring them a little happiness.
Since the creation of FlexiLivre, we have always wanted to act ethically and usefully, to the best of our ability. Since the beginning of this crisis, we have constantly thought about how we could contribute to this national solidarity movement through our company.
The idea for this project was born during a discussion about the case of Mathieu, co-founder of Flexilivre, who lives near the retirement home where his grandmother is staying. At the beginning of the lockdown, this retirement home, like all retirement homes in France, closed its doors to visitors for obvious safety reasons. Since then, his grandmother can only talk with her relatives by phone a few times a week, just like all the other residents.
The retirement home quickly confirmed to Mathieu that it was possible to send parcels to the residents safely. What could he send to his grandmother to make her feel closer to him despite the restrictions? The answer came naturally: pages of happiness and personalized memories! Thus, she would be deprived of visits but not of images, of those precious little moments of joy.
We decided to quickly extend this operation to as many people as possible. We imagined it so that every child or grandchild could create a booklet to send to their elders, in order to maintain this important family bond through some photos memories or current pictures.
Because 'Making Hearts Beat' is our slogan, we have the opportunity through this system to make it a reality.
