Supportive Christmas
This year, it's decided: we're preparing Christmas in advance! And above all, we make sure to make it an eco-friendly and supportive Christmas.
Tip #01 for an eco-friendly and supportive Christmas
Too often, we buy new garlands, baubles, and other candles year after year, so we begin by checking the Christmas decorations we have. Then, we take the opportunity to sort out what we want to keep and what we want to give. Many organizations will be happy to recover your Christmas decorations.
Tip #02: For an eco-friendly and supportive Christmas
To count the days until Christmas, we get started on making an Advent calendar. But this year, no more waste! To create our calendar, we recycle. Toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls, leftover gift wrap from last year, yogurt pots or miniature flowerpots... In short, we reuse these items that we generally throw away without a second thought. You will find lots of very professional tutorials online to bring them back to life. With a few snips and strokes of paint, they will form a beautiful Advent calendar.
Tip #03: For an eco-friendly and supportive Christmas
For our Christmas shopping, we choose the many Christmas markets that come to enliven our city centers. And why, you might ask? Because these markets often participate in a supportive and social initiative. It is easy to verify this with your town hall or the association of traders and artisans who organize them. Markets for creators showcase local artisans. By buying their products, you contribute to the good health of the local economy and you support local know-how. Some of these markets even pledge a portion of their proceeds to a good cause. So we take this opportunity to combine good shopping deals with solidarity! Some of these Christmas markets even commit to an eco-responsible approach. They limit the amount of waste produced, control water and energy consumption (Led lighting, for example), and encourage the use of gentle means of transport to get there.
Tip #04: For an eco-friendly and supportive Christmas
Because Christmas is a children's festival, we involve them in the preparations. It's an opportunity to teach them some good practices: recycling, homemade crafting, conviviality, sharing. We encourage them to sort their toys and to donate them to organizations that will distribute them to less privileged children.
Tip #05: For an eco-friendly and durable Christmas
It wouldn't be Christmas without a Christmas tree! So for an eco-friendly tree, we prefer a natural fir tree over an artificial one. Because the natural fir is part of a reasoned and sustainable cultivation. Long gone are the days when we used to cut down trees in the forests! Moreover, you should know that 80% of Christmas trees sold are grown in France. For a more design and contemporary version, you can buy a tree carved from wood. A way to keep the natural aspect without its drawbacks.
Happy Christmas preparations to everyone!
