In theory, you can place as many photos as you want in your photo album. However, in practice, the number of photos a book can hold depends on at least four factors:
- The format of the book: A4 (portrait/landscape), A5 (portrait/landscape), square (21X21 cm, 30X30 cm).
- The number of pages it contains: 10 to 400 pages on FlexiLivre, depending on the type of cover (soft or hard) and binding (glued or spiral).
- The type of layout, to be chosen according to the theme of your album (family, birthday, wedding, travel, animals, sport, professional, etc.).
- Your wallet: the number of photos itself does not change the price of your album AT ALL. The price is calculated per page, so it will be the same whether it contains 1 or 1000 photos.
1. What is the ideal number of photos per page?
Let's make it clear right away: there is no ideal number.
However, there is one rule to remember: "less is more". We therefore recommend that you always prioritize the quality of your photos over their quantity. Except for certain special events (bachelor/bachelorette parties, etc.) where the "haphazard" photo effect can even add character to the album.
To give you some statistics: about 25% of our albums are made up of only one photo per page! The photo's visibility is thus maximized, but this also implies that you have to choose your photos carefully beforehand.
Another obvious point: opting for a larger photo album format allows you to place more photos without diminishing its aesthetic appeal. On the other hand, with a very small album, it will probably be disappointing because the photos will be small and less visible.
2. Some tips
- Do not skimp on the quality of your photos, as they are meant to be printed. Choose non-blurry photos with a resolution between 150 (standard quality) and 300 dpi (professional quality). Note that dpi (dots per inch), ppi (points per inch), and ppp (pixels per inch) are equivalent units.
- Opt for a spaced-out layout: this applies to both photos and texts! Avoid cramming and sticking photos too close to each other, it will only disappoint you in the end. Prefer adding pages, and if it's not possible (due to budget for example), make a more drastic choice of photos and eliminate the ones you like the least.
- Sort your photos BEFORE uploading them to your album!
- You will save a lot, a lot of time when creating your album
- We are an album creation platform, not a photo storage service, our application is not optimized for this, even though again there is no limit.
- A fun little fact, a record at FlexiLivre: one of our customers uploaded 10348 photos to create his album and in the end used ...42! A big waste of time :-)
